Picture of Debbie at the Excel ConferenceDebbie volunteered with The Capital District Youth for Christ as a volunteer coordinator for their "Excel" and "Break Out" youth conferences in Saratoga, New York.

As a volunteer coordinator, Debbie oversaw the conferences' volunteers. She also prayed for the attendees as well as the conference staff, youth leaders, and presenters. "I love mentoring people and helping them see their gifts and possibilities that the Lord can use them for."

At the same time, Debbie found the experience to be just as rewarding for herself: "This has taught me that the Lord will use a willing servant and He has blessed me time and time again for having the faith to step out and take on a coordinator's position."

Debbie also has advice for those who are considering volunteering. "I guess my advice about volunteering is to pray that the Lord to open up opportunities where you can use your gifts to minister to others."

Through service, she adds, volunteers can also be impacted by the people they serve. "I know that many of the volunteers that I have overseen the last two years are amazed at not only at how the Lord uses them to help others, but at how others minister to them as they minister to others around them."
